Abbotsford Arts Council

The Abbotsford Arts Council invites all visual and performing artists to participate in The Arts in Mill Lake Park. Weather permitting, this family friendly event runs June 28, July 12 and July 26 from Noon to 4 p.m. and will take place on the grounds surrounding Kariton Gallery, 2387 Ware Street, Abbotsford.

The event is designed to bring artists together and put their talents on display. Performers of all kinds are sought to share their particular forte whether it be playing the fiddle, singing a song, strumming a guitar or reciting a monologue; visual artists are encouraged to come out of the
studio and create on site. All artists are welcome to sell their own artwork such as pottery, CDs and books.
Please note: There will not be a stage or electrical hookup available.
Participation is free, but registration is required.

HOW TO APPLY:
Registration forms can be downloaded at www.abbotsfordartscouncil.org. Limited space is
available and artists are encouraged to sign up early.

The Drift AGM was held on April 16th, many items were discussed, including the new Drift website design and features (more on that later), and the election of the new Board.

Board of Directors Election Results- New and Re-elected Board Members

The Drift is pleased to announce the results of our 2008 Board of Directors election at the AGM on April 16. Please join us in welcoming new and re-elected board members! Thanks to all Drift members who ran for the Board and voted in the elections. We would like to especially thank Drifter Beverly Grice, who stepped down as secretary, for all her hard work and excellent meeting minutes!

Call for Artists - early Deadline May 31 & Prize draw - Dinner for 2 at AURORA Bistro !
To all past and future Drift artists: Register for the Drift before May 31 and pay the extremely reasonable fee of only $ 35.00 for this year’s event and website listing. Also have your name included in the draw for dinner for two at Main Street’s award winning Aurora restaurant.  All previously registered artists are also eligible. And thanks for your early support of the Drift 2008.

The new website is almost done and looking great! We want to thank Clay Yandle at Sharkbite Art & Design  for his continued creative efforts to make the Drift website an effective and valuable tool for all Drifters. The target for completion is the end of May. Stay tuned . . .

Note: Only those who have paid their membership fee will have their listing included on the new site. All others will be put on the inactive list until the registration fee is received. A general “call for artists” will go out after May 31 so that any Vancouver artists not previously part of the Drift will have an opportunity to register. If you know of any artists who would be a good fit, please send them the registration information.

Call for Artists: Car Free Days June 15
Sponsored by The Mount Pleasant BIA
This is an opportunity to showcase your work, take part in community, and help publicize the Drift. We are asking interested Drift artists to show up on June 15 (location to be specified), perhaps do a live art demonstration, show some representative artwork , hand out business cards, & chat to folks about your art and the Drift. We will provide a table with Drift flyers, balloons, and other information.

Call for artists/volunteers

Call for artist/volunteers for the Drift 2008 special events program.

Start thinking of ways you can help make the Drift a truly memorable experience for participants and patrons. We’re hoping to have a whole array of activities going on throughout the weekend. A kids art zone, artist talks, art demonstrations, sidewalk art, temporary installations, buskers, outdoor video art, theatre and more. We’re discussing with participating businesses the possibility of hosting an event and or sponsoring one. If you feel inspired to create or participate in an event contact Diane: dlef@telus.net
