Volunteering

On March 26 the Drift hosted a volunteer event at JEM gallery. Quite a few Drifters and some new folks turned up, signed up for Volunteer jobs posted and enjoyed wine & goodies and a bit of social time with fellow artists.
There are still plenty of volunteer job opportunities coming up in the next few weeks and months, so if you have the time, check them out and contact Diane
(dlef@telus.net) if you can help out.

A Volunteer Job Board will be up on the web site soon, so if you don’t have the time now, check back.

Upcoming Jobs:

April/ May:

1.Take a couple of hours out to walk Main Street with a buddy and distribute information kits to Drift businesses. Times are flexible: weekdays or weekends during business hours.

2.Help sign up more great artists!
Print & distribute membership/registration forms throughout the Drift area and at other appropriate locations: Opus Art Store, café bulletin boards, artist-run centres, community bulletin boards etc.

3. Do you have any good candid photos of Drift activities from past years? We’re looking for photos that show street activities with lots of people, good photos of art in businesses, anything that gives a good representation of the Drift. Send jpgs to Diane dlef@telus.net.

AGM Reminder

All Drifters are encouraged to come out and vote for the 2008/2009 Drift Board of Directors. We are still accepting nominations for new Directors.

Mentorship

Little Mountain House is looking for a painter to come in and do a 2-hour session with a group of youth to create an art piece to display in Little Mountain Neighborhood House.
The artist would give some instruction about mixing colours and whatever other advice they might have. Each student (~10) will complete a 5"x5" square wooden tile on the theme of Community & Youth Engagement.
An honorarium of $100.00 is available and supplies are provided.
The time/date would be 2:30pm - 4:30pm on any Friday in May (artist can choose)

Artist Profiles

I would like to do Artist Profiles for the Newsletter. One artist could be featured each month. The format would be a short biography , artist's statement, and a quick Q&A. Any artists interested in participating please contact me, Pierre, at phoneyman@telus.net or 604-221-5700
