Mellisa Mills

Drawing | Mixed Media | Painting

Inspired by our interactions with the environment and her imagination, Mellisa Mills creates colourful cityscapes and portraits using acrylic mixed media techniques.

“We are manifestations of where we’ve come from,” she says. “But our perception of the past shapes our future, to weigh us down or to press us forward, as we choose to see joy or to spend our lives searching
for it.”

Mellisa began painting in 2002, contributing to collective art shows at the Vlover Gallery in Sutton, Ontario before graduating to her first solo exposition in Toronto in 2007 at the Bobby 5 Gallery on Queen Street West.

Mellisa then moved to Vancouver, BC, where she has contributed to collective art shows put on by Blind Mute Productions in such spaces as The Fall Gallery on Seymour  and Mike’s Old Garage. Mellisa has also shown her work at the Rootdown Cafe in Mount Pleasant and the Wallflower on Main Street.

Most recently Mellisa has showen her work at the Telus festival in Whistler part of the State of the Art annual group show and Banditas on Commercial Drive, Vancouver.
