Melanie's abstract work is very much influenced by nature and her feeling connected to it.
Inspired by colour, shape and pattern, the work often develops organically and spontaneously.
Layers of paint are applied, reapplied, and then often removed, revealing what was once there.
"To me, the act of painting is a balance of control and surrender. A duality that forms something complete."
Melanie Ellery is an artist based in Vancouver Canada. Her background includes a diploma in Illustration from Sheridan College and she has worked as both a graphic designer and art director.
Melanie is fulfilled when she's creating, connecting the tactile and visual into something wonderful.
