Lori Sokoluk

Drawing | Mixed Media | Painting

Inspired by the landscapes in which she has lived - Canadian prairies, the intense cityscape of New York City, and most recently the West Coast rain forest - Lori's realistic work captures just enough detail to launch the mind and heart. Executed in watercolors, acrylics, or drawing media, Lori has evolved a loose realism that evokes connections in the viewer to landscapes and dreamscapes of their own experience.

Her non-representational work draws upon years of yoga, meditation and martial arts practice to explore the depths of our being, both light and dark. Our struggles and our sublime nature are manifest in these powerful new works.

Born in Edmonton, Lori has lived and studied in New York, Boston, and Halifax. She now resides in Vancouver, a professional artist, sought-after instructor and demonstrator working out of REDSOKIL ARTS studio at 1895 Powell Street.

Lori is inspired by Gerhard Richter, Mark Rothko, Odilon Redon, and Wolf Kahn, as well as the occasional glass of  single malt scotch whiskey.
