About the Artist
Lee Sanger is a photographic artist specializing in creating family portraits as wall décor. Her newest love is fine art photography, which gives her an outlet to express appreciation of the great impressionists. Through the manipulation of light and colour and by marrying the mediums of art and photography, Lee creates unique images and hand made designer art cards. She has been invited to conduct hands-on workshops for the students at the Photography Departments of Langara College, Capilano College, The University College of the Fraser Valley, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, and the University of British Columbia, the Delta Arts Council, as well as at the National Convention of the Professional Photographers of Canada. Lee's workshops teach fellow photographers and artists to use Polaroid films in unusual ways to create new and unusual pieces. Her images have won several awards and received many honours through the Professional Photographers Association of British Columbia ("PPABC") and the Professional Photographers of Canada ("PPOC"). She was the second person in Canada to earn a National Accreditation in Fine Art Photography. Lee is also accredited in four other categories and is a "Master of Photographic Arts". In April of 2004 her image "Flight of Fancy" was selected to travel to China, to be shown in an international exhibition of photographers from Canada, the US and China. The exhibit was shown in Beijing and at the Great Wall of China. Also in 2004 her image "In Loving Memory" won the "Best in Class" trophy, received the prestigious Kodak Gallery Award, and was on Exhibit at the Gallery Elite Awards in New Orleans in January 2005 (pre-Christina). Her images "Purple Passion and Cardinal" were runners up for Best in Category and both received Honourable Mention during the PPABC Lower Mainland Region print salon in May 2006. At the PPOC national print competition in April 2007 all four of her images were accepted for exhibition with the image "Sunflower Medley" receiving merit status and also being named Best in Class, Unclassified/Experimental and receiving the trophy. Her favourite expression is, "No computers were hurt in the original creation of my images."
