Currently I'm in my studio at The Beaumont Studios The Beaumont Studios for a few hours most days of the week working on a commission...(love those commissions!)
TRICIA...(PLUSH)...has been a supporter of my work for years now and she's found herself able to actually purchase some pieces for display in her attractive condo.
So...I went off to my favourite beach and found some driftwood. Two pieces stood out as the ones I wanted to work on and Tricia felt the same.
So now I'm well under way creating two pretty funky but strange fish. One is over 5ft and the other about 4ft.
Here's a list of details Tricia and i talked about to try and incorporate into the pieces. This is what she likes about my work...
Colours: greens, oranges, blues, white, yellows, copper, metallic, silver...snappy clolours...
Glass, stone, industrial metal, rust...
More length than width...
Odd looking fish, prehistoric...
Two can be related in some way...there's a story about them...
Insets of various shapes and materials...likes the fiddlehead shape...(I do too!)
natural patterns, flowers but not floral design...
Exaggerate the features...I like adding these on using Apoxie which is a type of manufactured clay that sets hard. It's great to work with.
Am aiming to complete the two fish at the latest, end of June...but at the rate I'm going I think it will be end of May.
