I'm a graduate in Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo and studied photography at Focal Point in Vancouver. My photographs have been exhibited at several galleries in Vancouver. I have taken numerous workshops in paper making and casting, jewellery, calligraphy, sewing, screen printing and other crafty things.
I'm in love with colour and texture so I'm drawn to textiles and photography as a way of expressing myself. When I'm not teaching art and sewing to children, I bead, sew and quilt, paint and crochet and often combine two or more of them together. I've got a line of crocheted shrugs, neck wraps and corsages and am currently working on a series of fabric collages.
For a while now my photographs have been primarily of flora and fauna, especially macro views of a flower's petals or stamens. I'm fascinated by the incredible palette and texture that nature provides. I also enjoy photographing animals, vintage cars, industrial materials and places I've travelled to.
